Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re a youth, parent, volunteer, or partner, we want it to be easy for you to get the information you need.

General FAQs

The Youth Connection connects youth and families to life-changing programs, resources, and community opportunities. From workforce training to health and wellness initiatives, we help young people build the skills they need to thrive academically, professionally, and personally.

Parents are expected to:

  • Complete required paperwork (consent forms, emergency contact information)
  • Ensure youth have reliable transportation to and from activities (Ask us about our resources if this is a pain point for you)
  • Maintain open communication with program staff

Our programs primarily serve youth ages 11–24 in Detroit and surrounding areas. Each initiative has its own eligibility (age, school enrollment status, or referral requirement), which will be listed on the specific program page.

Programs FAQs

Visit our website and click “Apply” or “Register for Programs.” You can also contact our office directly for help completing the application.

Some programs are open to all youth in Wayne County, while others are Detroit-specific. Program eligibility will be clearly listed on each program page. If you’ve read the program description and you’re still not sure, give us a call!
